I've always been a writer...
though it took me until a few years ago to embrace it and take it seriously.
Since then, I've been focusing on writing, revising, taking courses, writing, revising, reading, writing, revising, learning, writing, revising... and so on.
Usually, art finds a way into my words...
...and an artist...
I've been drawing and painting as long as I can remember. I've always loved art and stories, but especially abstract art and poetry. It seemed to me that they were another language -- another way to communicate something that regular words or pictures couldn't quite do.
As an artist, words often find a way into my paintings. Most of the time, my paintings are born out of poems I write or journaling that I do ahead of art-making.
...and an art teacher...
Okay, well, maybe not always. But a loooong time! And in that time, I have grown in creativity, joy, gratitude, patience, empathy, flexibility.... and more. One of my favorite things to do as an art teacher is to introdue my students to new stories and illustrations, and help them to work together to create
MEANINGFUL COLLABORATIONS.
And so, this website and a blog was born, from the desire to share my love of books, stories, poetry, illustration, painting, abstraction, collaboration, teaching, and creativity. (That's not too much, is it?) I hope you'll enjoy!
